Game Boy Color Recommendations?

I've been really fixated on GBC games lately. I'm hammering through the Pokemon Blue set on RA, Tetris, and a few indie titles (seriously, they're still making these things) and recently ordered a Chromatic and an Everdrive GB X7 to finally be able to play stuff I missed out on with real™ hardware.

Does anyone have any game suggestions for Game Boy / Game Boy Color? Originals or modern, what's worth playing through?

I honestly just played the pokemon ones for color so I am not much help. For gameboy advance I like lord of the rings, final fantasy, and megaman battle network best

Pokemon games and Shrek: Fairy Tale Freakdown for color actually. I could never beat the gingerbread man. This game was tough.

I didn't have the Game Boy Color, but if you ever get into Game Boy Advance games, I really enjoyed these ones as a kid:

• Mario Kart: Super Circuit

• Hot Wheels: All Out

• Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure

• Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced

• Crash Nitro Kart

• Tony Hawk's Underground

• Tony Hawk's Underground 2

• Need for Speed: Underground 2

Now that I look at it, I really had a type... Crash Bandicoot games, racing games, and games with "underground" in the title.

Bkells I think I played a Shrek game for the Game Boy Advance back in the day as well! Probably Shrek 2, based on how I remember the box art looking.

James I never looked up the Tony Hawk GBC games until now. Those are actually good? I couldn't imagine it in 2D, and I'm not sure how I feel now.

I did order an Everdrive GB X7, so maybe I'll give some of those games a shot when that finally arrives.

Nicholas I enjoyed Tony Hawk's Underground 1 and 2 on the Game Boy Advance back in the day, yeah!

My opinion might be a bit skewed though since I didn't really play much of the console editions back then since I never got lucky enough to get them for Christmas or my birthday, but I found they were fun in their own way. I didn't even know there were GBC versions too, but those could very well be similar.

Plus, hearing The Ramones and The Doors in Game Boy style audio compression is funny.

Switch 2 exclusive or what?

I've really only played Mario Kart World (Great), Kirby Air Riders (Pretty good in a group). The other stuff I play has a Switch 1 & Switch 2 version: Pokemon Legends ZA (Mid in general), Pokemon Scarlet/Violet (Great on Switch 2, horrible on Switch 1), and Animal Crossing New Horizons is getting a Switch 2 update in a week or something.

I don't play a ton on my Switch, I mostly play games with my wife on it.

James I was lucky enough to have 3 & Underground on Gamecube, but I never had a console until the end of the Gamecube's lifecycle. Just listened to some of the GBC soundtrack and it has a surprising amount of soul. Absolutely will try them out when my Chromatic arrives.
